A look at life from a liminal perspective. Both my medical condition (myalgic encephalomyalitis) and my intuitive abilities are examples of liminal conditions. Liminality is the realm of tricksters, ambiguity, "betwixt and between"(ala Victor Turner). My body is not fully alive and my psyche has awareness of more than one realm. Though this is a subjective view, my hope is that it can benefit others by being placed in a larger perspective such as mythic, Jungian, transformative, or spiritual.

Chained Angel II: a painting
This is a painting about my struggle with chronic illness (CFIDS/ME). The angel's dress was inspired by the Horse Head Nebula.
Her wings represent Deep Space. She is chained in a cave deep within the Earth/matter.This is a paradox.
Feathers fly around her and she cries tears of blood.
Painting has been a healing and cathartic experience. It has given me a way to express the inexpressible. Painting is also a way of moving the feelings through the body, instead of just holding it in.

ReplyDeleteThanks Gypsy. I know you are gifted with understanding the language of symbols and the symbolic. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. Gypsy's right. It speaks on many levels, through that universal language of color, image, form.
